2005:  New York nightclub CBGB was served with an eviction notice by their landlord.  Artists such as The Ramones, Talking Heads & Patti Smith played their first shows here.

 

2003:  Warren Zevon died in his sleep from lung cancer at his home in Los Angeles, CA.  He was 56 years old.

 

1997:  Fleetwood Mac went to number one on the Billboard 200 album chart for the fourth and final time with The Dance, a live album recorded for an MTV special earlier in the year.  It spent one week on top.

 

1996:  Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres married supermodel Eva Herzigova in Sea Bright, NJ.  Their marriage lasted until June 1998 when they divorced.

 

1985:  Ringo Starr became the first Beatle to become a grandfather when his son Zak & wife Sarah gave birth to a daughter named Tatia Jayne.

 

1978:  Founding drummer from The Who Keith Moon died in London at 32 years old of an overdose of Hemenephirin which he was using to cure his alcoholism.

 

1968:  Led Zeppelin made their live debut at the Teen Club Box 45 in Gladsaxe, Denmark.

 

1968:  The Doors reached the top of the Billboard 200 album chart for the first and only time with Waiting for the Sun, which spent four non-consecutive weeks on top.
