1997: At the MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Bruce Springsteen joined the Wallflowers onstage for a rendition of One Headlight. U2 performed and Sting made an appearance with Puff Daddy.
1996: The original lineup of Van Halen made their first public appearance since 1984 at the MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The show also featured performances by Kiss, Neil Young and Metallica.
1986: Gregg Allman was arrested for charges of drunk driving in Florida. He had just gotten his license back after a five-year suspension.
1982: The Steve Miller Band reached number one the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the second and final time with Abracadabra which spent two weeks on top.
1980: Yes began a sold out three night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. At the time Yes had sold out more concerts at Madison Square Garden than any other band.
1976: Fleetwood Mac reached the top of the Billboard 200 album for the first time with their second self-titled album for one week, more than a year after its release in July of 1975.
1965: The Who had their equipment van stolen outside of the Battersea Dog’s Home in London. The band was in the home buying a guard dog.
1964: The Animals made their debut U.S. performance at the Paramount Theatre in Brooklyn.
