1996: Chas Chandler, bassist for The Animals & manager for The Jimi Hendrix Experience died of an aortic aneurysm. He was 58 years old.

The Smashing Pumpkins fired drummer Jimmy Chamberlin after an arrest on heroin possession one week earlier. He would rejoin the band in October 1998.

1994: Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley made a surprise appearance at a Kiss convention in Pontiac, MI to reclaim Kiss costumes stolen from more than a decade ago.

1979: Gary Moore left Thin Lizzy in the midst of a U.S. tour & was replaced by Midge Ure.

1974: John Lennon was ordered by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service to leave the country within 60 days.
