2003: Judas Priest announced that Rob Halford would be returning to the group as their singer for a reunion tour.

2002: More than 200 mourners attended the funeral of The Who’s bassist John Entwistle.

1995: R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills underwent abdominal surgery while in Germany in the midst of their tour in support of Monster. Several shows were cancelled.

1979: Los Angeles’ Bruin Theatre hosted the premiere of Neil Young’s concert film Rust Never Sleeps.

1969: Space Oddity by David Bowie was rush-released to coincide with the Apollo 11 moon landings.
