1997: Chrissy Hynde married sculptor Lucho Brieva, an artist from Colombia 14 years her junior. They would separate in 2002.

1987: John Hammond, producer and record executive who brought Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Ray Vaughan to Columbia Records died after a series of strokes.

1986: Jerry Garcia lapsed into a diabetic coma, waking up five days later. This coma caused Garcia to have to relearn how to play guitar.

1975: Cher filed for divorce from Gregg Allman, 10 days after they married. They later reconsider and exactly one year later on this day she gave birth to their son Elijah.

1965: The Rolling Stones started a four week run at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, their first American number one single.
