2005: Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, who’s seen Pink Floyd’s record sales go up after Live 8 suggested that all other Live 8 performers donate their royalties to charity.

1995: The Justice Department announced that it would be dropping its investigation of antitrust charges brought on against Ticketmaster by Pearl Jam.

1984: The Everly Brothers kicked off their North American leg of their reunion tour in Cincinnati, OH at the newly opened Riverbend Music Center.

1978: Pressings of the Rolling Stones’ album Some Girls were halted when celebrities such as Lucille Ball and Raquel Welch objected to being on the album cover.

1954: Elvis Presley made his first major recording at Sun Studios in Memphis with Scotty Moore and Billy Black recording That’s All Right.
