2005: Nine concerts are held all over the world as part of Live 8 to raise awareness of African poverty. These concerts took place in London, Paris, Berlin, Philadelphia, Toronto, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Moscow and Cornwall.

2000: Pete Townshend announced on his website that he spoke with Eddie Vedder after learning about the deaths of nine people at a Pearl Jam concert in Denmark and given him advice on what The Who had done wrong regarding the Cincinnati tragedy in 1979.

1997: After Bruce Springsteen was awarded Sweden’s Polar Music Prize, he donated the cash portion of the award to a Swedish school program that kept teenagers off the streets.

1991: A riot broke out at a Guns N’ Roses concert in St. Louis, MO after Axl Rose spotted a fan illegally recording their concert with a video camera and jumped into the audience to go after him. Their show ended early & the groups gear was trashed.

1973: Roxy Music’s synthesizer player Brian Eno announced he was leaving the group after disagreements with singer Brian Ferry.
