2004: Dave Davies of The Kinks was left paralyzed on the right-hand side of his body after he suffered a stroke. He would recover & be able to walk, talk & play guitar again.

2001: Chet Atkins, influential producer and session guitar player died at his Nashville, TN home of lung cancer. He was 77 years old.

1983: The Everly Brothers announced that they would be reuniting for their first tour in ten years after splitting up due to tensions in 1973.

1981: Jerry Lee Lewis was hospitalized in Memphis while suffering a hemorrhaging stomach ulcer. After an operation was performed, Lewis’ doctors gave him a 50-50 chance of surviving.

1975: Four days after divorcing Sonny Bono, Cher married Gregg Allman. They would split up four years later.

1966: The Beatles performed the first of three concerts at Budokan in Tokyo.
