1981: Mark David Chapman pled guilty to the charge of murdering John Lennon on December 8, 1980. He would later receive a sentence of 20 years to life in prison.
1975: Eric Clapton joined the Rolling Stones onstage at Madison Square Garden in New York City to jam on “Sympathy for the Devil”.
1968: The Jeff Beck Group, featuring Rod Stewart as lead singer made their first U.S. appearance at New York’s Fillmore East. Stewart had such bad stage fright that he spent the entirety of the first song behind a large speaker cabinet.
