2005: Soul Asylum bassist & founding member Karl Mueller died from throat cancer complications at 41 years old.

1989: Hysteria by Def Leppard entered its 96th consecutive week in the top 40 of Billboard’s album chart, tying a record set by Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A.

1978: Jefferson Starship cancelled their appearance at Germany’s Lorelei Festival due to Grace Slick being too inebriated to perform.

1967: Moby Grape simultaneously released five singles from their self-titled debut record in what would go down as a disastrous example of record company hype.
