2007: Rod Stewart married his girlfriend of seven years, Penny Lancaster on the Italian Riviera.

2004: The surviving members of The New York Dolls performed their first concert in 29 years in London as part of the Meltdown Festival.

1995: Pearl Jam kicked off their first American tour without the involvement of Ticketmaster in Casper, WY. The band accused them of monopolizing the ticket industry

1988: Pink Floyd performed on the western side of the Berlin Wall in Germany. 2,000 East Germans gathered on the other side to listen.

1980: The Blues Brothers movie premiered in Chicago. It included appearances from Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Ray Charles, & Joe Walsh.

1967: The Monterey Pop Festival kicked off in Monterey, CA. Performers such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin & Simon & Garfunkel become international stars overnight due to the media coverage. All artists performed for free except for Ravi Shankar.
