2003: The second annual Bonnaroo festival ends with a marathon set by the
Dead, a group made up of former members of the Grateful Dead.
1992: Bruce Springsteen kicked off his first tour without the E Street Band at the Globe Arena in Stockholm.
1989: Nirvana released their debut album Bleach. Initially the album sold 30,000 records it would later go on to be certified Platinum.
1985: Bon Jovi made their second appearance on American Bandstand where they performed “In and Out of Love” & “Only Lonely”.
1977: The Sex Pistols held a party on a boat as sailed The River Thames in London and performed “Anarchy in the U.K.” outside of The Houses of Parliament which resulted in members of the party being arrested when the boat docked later in the day.
1970: Jimi Hendrix spent his first day recording at Electric Ladyland studio in New York City. The studio was designed to Hendrix’s exact specifications.
1967: Peter Green left the John Mayall Blues Breakers. Green shortly went on to form Fleetwood Mac.
1965: Bob Dylan began recording sessions for Highway 61 Revisited & one of the songs cut on this day was “Like a Rolling Stone”.
1956: John Lennon first met Paul McCartney at a church dinner in Liverpool, where Lennon’s group the Quarrymen performed. Lennon invited McCartney to join the Quarrymen.
