2004: Glen Campbell was sentenced to 10 days in jail & two years of probation on charges of drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident in November 2003.

2003: The second annual Bonnaroo festival ends with a marathon set by the Dead, a group made up of former members of the Grateful Dead.

1965: Bob Dylan began recording sessions for Highway 61 Revisited & one of the songs cut on this day was Like a Rolling Stone.

1963: Ky Sakamoto reached the top of the Billboard charts with Sukiyaki. This is the first time a Japanese artist goes to number one.

1956: John Lennon first met Paul McCartney at a church dinner in Liverpool, where Lennon’s group the Quarrymen performed. Lennon invited McCartney to join the Quarrymen.
