2004: ZZ Top was nearly swept offstage by a rainstorm during a performance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival in Dallas.

1997: Genesis hired Ray Wilson from the U.K. band Stiltskin to replace Phil Collins. He would later be dismissed from the group in 1999.
1982: Appearing on the bill of the Peace Sunday: We Have a Dream concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA were Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt & Crosby, Stills & Nash.

1979: Def Leppard played a concert at Crookes Workingman’s Club in Sheffield, UK. This concert was reviewed by UK magazine Sounds & led to their recording contract.

1966: Roy Orbison’s wife Claudette was killed when a truck collided with the motorcycle they were riding on. Orbison wrote a song titled Caludette which was a hit for the Everly Brothers in 1959.
