The Police kicked off their reunion tour in Vancouver at the General
Motors Place. The tour went on for fifteen months, sold 3.7
million tickets & went on to gross $358 million, making it the
third highest grossing tour of all time.
1988:
Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler married clothing designer Teresa Barrick
in Barrick’s hometown of Tulsa, OK. This was Tyler’s second
marriage and the couple would divorce in January 2006.
1983:
The US Festival kicked the first of three days in San Bernardino,
CA. Among the performers are Van Halen, David Bowie, The Clash,
Joe Walsh, The Pretenders, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, The Scorpions,
Triumph, Motley Crue, Quiet Riot, U2 & Stevie Nicks.

Bruce Springsteen reached a settlement with former manager Mike Appel,
which freed him to enter the recording studio. Their legal
entanglements prevented him from recording.

Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers performed together for the
first time when they performed with Mike Howlett’s short-lived band
Strontium 90 at the Circus Hippodrome in Paris.

Two concerts were held at Oakland’s Oakland-Almeda County Stadium which
drew over 100,000 fans for a bill that featured the Eagles, Steve
Miller, Heart and Foreigner.
1976: The Allman Brothers
Band broke up for the first time after Gregg Allman testified against a
road manager accused of drug trafficking.
1975: The Doobie Brothers received their fourth Gold record for the album Stampede.
1973: The Faces’ bassist Ronnie Lane departed from the group & formed a new group Slim Chance.
