2003: Staind canceled an in-store appearance & concert in Toronto following an outbreak of the SARS virus.

1996: Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan was rushed to Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after an apparent drug overdose. He was later arrested for possession of cocaine & heroin & ordered to enter a rehabilitation program.

1983: The US Festival kicked the first of three days in San Bernardino, CA. Among the performers are Van Halen, David Bowie, The Clash, Ozzy Osbourne, U2 & Stevie Nicks.

1977: Bruce Springsteen reached a settlement with former manager Mike Appel, which freed him to enter the recording studio. Their legal entanglements prevented him from recording.

1976: The Allman Brothers Band break up for the first time after Gregg Allman testified against a road manager accused of drug trafficking.

1973: Ronnie Lane departs from The Faces & forms a new group Slim Chance.
