2004: Phish announced on their web site that they would be splitting up following their summer tour.

Courtney Love pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance, a charge stemming from a 2003 arrest.

2000: Eddie Van Halen is tested for cancer at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. The hospital says that the tests are routine & that he’s not ill.

1990: Lou Gramm announced that he was leaving Foreigner to start a solo career. He would rejoin the group in 1992.

1973: Carole King performed a free concert at New York’s Central Park, which attracted a then-record breaking attendance of 100,000.

1969: The Who & Led Zeppelin performed on the same bill for the only time at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.
