2000: The ASCAP awarded Steely Dan the Founders Award, the ASCAP’s top honor for lifetime achievement in songwriting.

1999: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band sells out 15 concerts at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, NJ. These concerts set a record for number of shows during a single arena stay.

1971: Sticky Fingers by the Rolling Stones begins a four week run atop the U.S. album charts.

1958: As Jerry Lee Lewis arrived in England to start a tour, he announces that he’s married to his 13 year old cousin Myra. Shortly thereafter his tour of the U.K. would be canceled.

1955: Fats Domino discovers his concert scheduled for Bridgeport, CT is cancelled due to police fearing a rock and roll riot.
