1983: David Bowie, with guitar work courtesy of Stevie Ray Vaughan went to number one on the U.S. singles chart with Let’s Dance.

1980: Bob Dylan plays his final gospel show in Dayton, OH. A second show there was canceled due to poor ticket sales.

Joe Strummer is arrested after The Clash performed in Hamburg, Germany. Strummer was arrested for smashing a guitar over the head of an audience member.

1979: Elton John kicks off his tour of Russia. He is the first Western star to undertake a Russian tour.

1968: Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones is arrested on charges of cannabis possession after police search his apartment.
