1995:  Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler was arrested on a felony charge of heroin possession.

1990:  Aerosmith reached the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for the sixth time as “What It Takes” peaked at number nine.

1986:  Ahmet Ertegun announced that Cleveland, OH will be the site of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

1984:  Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr marries Pretenders singer/guitarist Chrissie Hynde in New York’s Central Park.  They would later divorce in 1990.

1978:  Bob Seger released his tenth studio album and second with The Silver Bullet Band Stranger in Town which went on to peak at number four on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and sell six million copies in the U.S.

1973:  David Bowie reached number one on the U.K. Album Chart for the first time with Aladdin Sane which spent five weeks on top of the chart.  It reached number seventeen in the U.S.

1968:  Buffalo Springfield performed their final concert at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, CA.

1963:  Dick Rowe, the Head of A&R for Decca Records sees the Rolling Stones play at the Crawdaddy Club in London.  Within a week, the Stones are signed to Decca.

1956:  Elvis Presley went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the first time with “Heartbreak Hotel” which spent seven weeks on top.
