2000: Rod Stewart had a one hour operation in Los Angeles, CA to remove a growth on his thyroid, which turns out to be benign.

1995: Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler was arrested on a felony charge of heroin possession.

1986: Ahmet Ertegun announces that Cleveland, OH will be the site of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

1984: Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr marries Chrissie Hynde in New York’s Central Park. They would later divorce in 1990.

1968: Buffalo Springfield performs their final concert in Long Beach, CA at the Long Beach Arena.

1963: Dick Rowe, the Head of A&R for Decca Records sees the Rolling Stones play at the Crawdaddy Club in London. Within a week, the Stones are signed to Decca.
