2006: Keith Richards was released from a New Zealand hospital after suffering a “mild concussion” when he fell out of a coconut tree while on holiday in Fiji.

2005: Cream performed the first of four nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall, 36 years after they split up.

1991: Nirvana entered Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA to begin recording what would become the Nevermind album.

1980: Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall Part II is banned in South Africa, where it is blamed for inciting riots.

1972: Bruce Springsteen auditions for CBS Records A&R man John Hammond in his New York office. Hammond is so impressed he arranges a real audition later that night at the Gaslight Club.

1965: Despite swearing they would never appear on his show again, Ed Sullivan would play host to the Rolling Stones for a second time.
