2004: Sammy Hagar confirmed on Howard Stern’s radio show that he would be re-joining Van Halen for a reunion tour that summer. After the tour ended, Hagar was quoted as saying he was “done with Van Halen.”

2002: Randy Castillo, drummer for Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue & Lita Ford died of squamous cell carcinoma at his home in Los Angeles. He was 51 years old.

2000: Phil Collins won the Best Music, Original Song Oscar at the 72nd Academy Awards for You’ll Be in My Heart from the Disney animated movie Tarzan.

1994: Soundgarden reached the top of the Billboard 200 album chart for the first and only time with their fourth album Superunknown, which spent one week at number one.

1980: The Police performed in Bombay, India, the first western rock concert in Bombay in 10 years.

1976: Genesis kicked off their first North American tour with Phil Collins singing for them in London, ON.

1965: Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman was knocked unconscious by an electrical shock from a microphone stand onstage during a concert in Odense, Denmark.
