2005: Molly Hatchet singer Danny Joe Brown died at his home in Davie, FL due to complications from diabetes. He was 53 years old.

2003: The Police performed together for the second time since their break-up during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Also inducted in 2003 were AC/DC, The Clash, Elvis Costello & the Attractions & the Righteous Brothers.

Spanish hairdresser Rafael Pages paid over $1,400 for a lock of hair George Harrison cut off in 1964 to be displayed in Pages’ hairdressing museum in Barcelona.

1984: Ian Gillan announced that he was leaving Black Sabbath. Shortly after this departure Gillan re-joined Deep Purple as their singer for a reunion tour.

1981: Jimmy Page made his first on-stage appearance since the breakup of Led Zeppelin when he joined Jeff Beck onstage during Beck’s encore at the Hammersmith Odeon in London.

1977: The Sex Pistols signed with A&M Records at 7 a.m. on a trestle table set up outside of Buckingham Palace. Six days later they would be dropped by the label.

1976: Rush released their fourth album 2112. The album was considered Rush’s artistic breakthrough album & was their first album to reach the top 100 of the Billboard 200 album chart peaking at number 61 & later went on to sell three million copies in the U.S.
