2004: Art Garfunkel plead guilty to marijuana possession in Hurley, NY & had to pay a $200 fine. Garfunkel was pulled over for speeding the previous month when six grams of marijuana was found in Garfunkel’s jacket pocket.

2003: Doors drummer John Densmore filed an injuction against guitarist Robbie Krieger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, Police drummer Stewart Copeland & The Cult singer Ian Astbury for touring as The Doors of the 21st Century.

2001: Jimmy Buffett was ejected from a Miami Heat-New York Knicks game in Miami for cursing at a referee.

1989: Guns N’ Roses became the first act in 15 years to have two albums in the top five of the Billboard 200 album chart. Appetite for Destruction was at number two & the EP G N’ R Lies was at number five.

1977: American Bandstand celebrated its 25th anniversary with a primetime special on ABC. Among the performers who appeared on the special included Gregg Allman, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Isaac Hayes, & Stevie Wonder.

Fleetwood Mac released Rumours, which would later spend 31 one on top of the Billboard 200 album chart & sell 19 million copies in the U.S. alone.

1970: John Lennon & Yoko Ono donated a bag of their cut hair to Michael X for an auction to aid the Black Power movement. Michael X then gave them a pair of Muhammad Ali’s boxing shorts.
