2000: C.C. DeVille announced that he left Poison due to
Bret Michaels’ refusal to let DeVille’s other band Samantha 7 open for
Poison on their scheduled summer tour. DeVille rejoined the band 18 days
later.
1995: Rush’s self-titled debut album was certified gold by the RIAA
twenty-one years after its initial release.
1992: Elton John topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with Don’t Let
the Sun Go Down On Me re-recorded as a duet with George Michael. It topped
the singles chart for one week. When it was initially released by John in
1974, it peaked at number two.
1988: The Cars announced via a press release that after recording six albums
together, they were splitting up.
1985: The Eagles’ Glenn Frey made his acting debut with a guest appearance
on Miami Vice where he played drug dealer Jimmy Cole.
1968: Elvis Presley’s only child, daughter Lisa Marie was born in Memphis
exactly nine months after Elvis married Priscilla.
The Doors announced that Universal Pictures offered them $500,000 to star in
a future film. Other announcements made included a television special, a
group humor book & a book of poetry by Jim Morrison. Only Morrison’s poetry
book was eventually released.
1964: I Want to Hold Your Hand by The Beatles reached the top of the
Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the first of seven weeks.
1963: Neil Young made his on-stage debut with his then-group The Squires at
the Riverview Community Club in Winnipeg.
